Maryland Dove

The "Maryland Dove" is a recreation of the original Dove which brought English settlers to the Chesapeake Bay in 1634. She sailed in tandem with the Ark, a much larger vessel which carried most of the passengers and most of the stores.  "Dove's" function was to carry the remainder of the passengers, stores, and provisions, and to serve as the local explorational vessel in the New World.  Her smaller size and fore&aft "boyer" rig facilitated her ability to fully explore the Chesapeake and surrounding coastlines.
